Webmentions for your blog

Show Bluesky and Mastodon replies on your blog with wbmntn

wbmntn gives your site a webmention endpoint. Replies, likes and reposts from Bluesky and Mastodon appear as mentions on your blog posts. Approve them in the dashboard, or read them through the JSON API.

How it works

  1. 1

Add your site to wbmntn and copy the two-line snippet.

  2. 2

Paste it into the head of your pages. When it is live on your homepage, wbmntn verifies the site.

  3. 3

Connect Bluesky or Mastodon to collect replies. Add your feed URL to send webmentions when your posts link to other sites.

Receive

Mentions from other sites arrive at your endpoint. Approve each one by hand, allow all, or deny all. The JSON API serves them as a JF2 feed.

Backfeed

Connect Bluesky or Mastodon. Replies, likes and reposts become mentions on the matching blog post.

Send

Add your feed URL. When a new post links to another site, wbmntn sends that site a webmention.

Who pays for this?
wbmntn.com is free to use under a fair-use policy. It is sponsored by Spinal CMS.
Do I need a Bluesky or Mastodon account?
Only if you want replies and reactions from those networks. Webmentions work without one. Connect an account to backfeed its replies, likes and reposts.
How do replies get onto my blog?
Add your site, paste the verification snippet into your page head and wbmntn verifies the domain. Then connect Bluesky or Mastodon, or let other sites send webmentions to your endpoint.
Can I approve or reject mentions?
Yes. Choose allow all, deny all, or manual approval. You can approve, reject, or soft-delete individual mentions from the dashboard.
Does it work with static site generators?
Yes. It works with any site where you can edit the page head. Guides cover Hugo, Jekyll, Astro, Eleventy and generic setups.
